Ride-hailing, a new mode to commute? Evidence from Tehran, Iran

In the last decade, ride-hailing services have spread all over world. While these technology-enabled account for a small part of modal split in many Western cities, situation is different developing world, where people use on daily basis. To better understand role mobility system and to confirm hypothesis that new mode commuting, we constructed, tested, administered questionnaire travel behavior practices Tehran, Iran. 601 questionnaires were completed February 2019. Descriptive analysis combined with correlation tests frequency model. The findings show substantial adoption population, used by from social backgrounds as it most versatile flexible transportation metropolitan area. there high rate adoption, mainly determined smartphone income level. Ride-hailing presents comfort speed private car those who can afford this basis, especially university students, workers formal sector women. Local authorities might consider an alternative car, complement public semi-public systems.
